When Is It Time?

My intention with my presence, my work along your side, and in encouraging your connection with the place is that it truly serves wellness, wholeness, and goodness for your life and your relationships. This post is meant to give you some practical context and considerations for when our our work is done for the time being.

Some Context

In this world, done is always a relative term. For our purposes, done can mean that you stop your regular appointments and, hopefully, move on to some situation that will further kindle your positive growth and support your journey. It may be better for you to have a clear and intentional ending to this part of your journey. You may, instead, want to go to an “as needed or inspired basis."

It may be helpful to know that done does not mean permanent severance. Generally with anyone who I’ve worked with in the past, if you reach out down the road, I’ll see what I can do to squeeze you in. We share community and place together, so know that you are welcome to reach out anytime.

Do know that, due the nature of my full schedule and ever-robust waitlist, if we do go to “as needed” or if you do reach out in the future, I’ll put you “on call” and see where we can find openings for you within the existing schedule. If there’s ever a great need, I can open up an extra time slot for you.

Some Considerations

For some of us, our culture can be avoidant of intentional endings. We could just ignore it or avoid it, and that can be a real tax on your life force. A clear and intentional ending can be quite powerful, and can help you to incorporate all the beneficial parts of your journey. I welcome this any time you sense that it is indicated for you.

For some of us, our culture can see an ending as hurtful to another. There can be a pattern of avoiding ending because you don’t want to let the other person down. Or you may have developed some sense of staying with them as a form of loyalty to them. This can creep its way into our work, just as it can in any relationship. If you find yourself feeling like it is time but you keep coming because you don’t want to disappoint me or lose the relationship, it’s a good time for us to have a conversation about it. Bringing these things into the light can be very helpful and empowering.

If it is starting to feel stale, then it might be time for something new. Of course, this could also be a part of yourself that is scared of a real change in your patterns… so this one will take discernment on your part. Again, I welcome naming it and we can work with it.

If staying with our sessions is more comfortable than making a change toward something new that you have a deep sense is good for you, then that would be worth exploring.

If it’s just not working for you. Not everybody and everyplace works for everyone. Thank goodness for diversity. I have a robust referral list and I can work with you to find something that might be a better fit. I really appreciate that referrals are a part of my job.

And definitely, if you are wanting to make room for something else that is making your heart sing and bringing you further on the path! That is exactly why we do what we do: to help Life flow. Our work is to serve Life, not get in the way of it. If Life is taking you elsewhere, then may you go forth with many blessings!

If it’s hard for you to name these things in person, send me an email or a text and we can bookmark it for the next session.

Thanks so much for who you are and the time and effort you expend toward cultivating a better life for yourself and your relationships. I hope this post serves to spark some thoughts and aid you in clarity on your path. Please know that I will work with you for as long as it is serving Life. I’ve worked with some people for many years, and some for just a handful of sessions. And I truly am honored to be able to walk the path together.

Be well!
